Alice in Chains was performing at the Tabernacle on Thursday, February 25, 2010 with a second show the following day. I was excited because a pretty big name was coming in town and I frequent the Tabernacle for reviews now.

The Variety Playhouse is a wonderful venue if you love light shows and music. It is one of my favorite places to take pictures since the lighting is one of the best that I have been to.

The Tabernacle usually hosts mostly alternative rock bands, but there comes a time when a real gem comes into the venue, and that’s when I discovered B.O.B. aka Bobby Ray. He opened for Goodie Mob, but I was just swept by both his performance and music. It is highly recommended if you really like rap that is really from the heart, somewhat like Lupe Fiasco. Well I can’t really explain much about it, but the lyrics are true to heart, not trash like the top 40 songs you hear on the radio.

Flogging Molly played at the Tabernacle on February 13, 2010 for the celtic fans of Atlanta. I expected a slightly more intense performance from this punk rock band, and a little more hectic crowd but i can’t complain that much since it was still a good concert. The instrument lineup was great, with an accordion and banjo making an appearance. First up is David King, the lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist getting the audience into their performance.

I didn’t really know what to expect when I requested Umphrey’s McGee, but I was pleasantly surprised by the performance and music that the band produced. Umphrey’s McGee performed on February 6, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Tabernacle. The live performance was riveting, causing the fans to be swept with euphony. I highly recommend this band for those who listen to smooth grooves and a simple melody. I guess you can say it is Dave Matthews Band material.

I had the opportunity to review and photograph Badfish this weekend at the Variety Playhouse. I wasn’t really expecting much, except for a cover band of a very well known Sublime. But I got way more out of it, not expecting the variety that was given. The lead singer had a feel good song, blending both reggae and rock and roll.

The Used at the Tabernacle

November 2, 2009

The Almost opened up for The Used at the Tabernacle. I really enjoyed the performance and it got me ready for the main event. I was having a bad day today and wasn’t impressed with what I have produced. But here are a few of the ones I kind of like. The drummer of The Almost had these sweet looking glasses.

Fall Ball

October 30, 2009

I had the opportunity to photograph the Fall Ball at the Masquerade yesterday, but unfortunately the headlining band wasn’t able to make it. The Academy is.. tour bus broke down, but it wasn’t the end of the night. The first band up was You Me at Six, which proved to be challenging because of the lights.

It was freezing cold today in Atlanta, and I got into the venue late because of press pass issues. But we only got to take pictures of the first band, the sleeping, for one song. Then we were forced to stand outside for nearly an hour. I felt like I was turning into an icicle.

Homecoming Concert 2009

October 17, 2009

The opener for this years, and hopefully subsequent years, homecoming concert was Hot Chelle Rae. It was a tough start to a “promising” assignment due to tough lighting to deal with. Although they might not be known as well, they produce some pretty sweet tunes. Here is the lead singer looking like the SNL skit.
