GT vs UNC-Wilmington

March 10, 2010

I was able to shoot one tennis match this weekend, which was a battle between Georgia Tech and University of North Carolina Wilmington. This allowed me to shoot the doubles match between Georgia Tech’s Kevin King and Juan Spir and UNC Wilmington’s Kinshuk Sharma and Max Ando Hirsh. This doubles match ended with Georgia Tech defeating UNC Wilmington 8-6. First picture shows the setup for doubles, with Juan Spir in front and Kevin King in the back.

Estrada Wedding

March 8, 2010

I shot a wedding a few months back with a friend, Michael James, and wasn’t able to post them up until now. Well here is my rendition of the wedding, which I thought I got some pretty decent images for a first timer. I hope I can get some more tries at this, because I know I can make my vision grow into something a little more special. Well I hope you enjoy the photos coming up, the first two are of the wedding bands.

Yellow Jacket Open

March 8, 2010

Georgia Tech hosted a USFA event called the Yellow Jacket Open to attract participants to compete against each other. It is actually pretty addicting to watch, and looks like a lot of fun to fence also. I watched an event called foil, which involves only a no sleeve vest and a button sword for points. Here are some photos I came up with. First one was just to stop motion, but the background was a little too busy so I though I should add some blur to single out the subject.

Georgia Tech had a must win to boost their moral before the ACC tournament, and possibly the NCAA tournament if they are lucky. This was despite the 18 point effort by both Georgia Tech forward Gani Lawal and Georgia Tech center Derrick Favors. Georgia Tech lost with a final score of 88-82.

The other day I had an urge to take some pictures around Atlanta. I know I won’t be around soon so I decided to to get some keepsakes for the future.

Piedmont Park hosted something similar to that of Central Park in New York, New York. But this is the Atlanta version so it is much cooler! While I was walking there, I didn’t think there would be a huge mob of people that actually showed up. I was delighted to see that the people were full of energy to participate in this rare occasion. Well enjoy the pictures.

The Variety Playhouse is a wonderful venue if you love light shows and music. It is one of my favorite places to take pictures since the lighting is one of the best that I have been to.

The Tabernacle usually hosts mostly alternative rock bands, but there comes a time when a real gem comes into the venue, and that’s when I discovered B.O.B. aka Bobby Ray. He opened for Goodie Mob, but I was just swept by both his performance and music. It is highly recommended if you really like rap that is really from the heart, somewhat like Lupe Fiasco. Well I can’t really explain much about it, but the lyrics are true to heart, not trash like the top 40 songs you hear on the radio.

Eric Mansfield, a fellow technique photographer, and I decided to play around with lights tonight. I wanted to get some pictures around Tech Tower before we left so I figured we use this location. Here are a couple that I liked, and I am hoping to get some more portraits to play around with. I know they are some lame poses, but oh well it works!
