Darren. Thanks for the kind words! I loved it in Death Valley. I need to pick a weekend to go back and also the Valley of fire. You should head to Titus Canyon next time, but be sure to have good tires and a truck. I witness an unfortunate driver with a flat in their car while driving there.

Great shots, I just returned from a week down in Death Valley and Valley of Fire. The places are both amazing. I had a great time shooting Mesquite dunes....I am glad to see Titus Canyon with your truck for scale. We did not get there...Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Craig! I am planning some more trips in the Sierras' soon, that area is just beautiful. I have been up in the Dusy Basin area, but the Mono Lake trip was more of a reactionary trip due to not being able to obtain a permit.

Nice images, Kelvin. Mono Lake and the Eastern Sierras do offer amazing photo ops. Just have to get out of bed early!

I love this area, but "people pollution" around the lake really is a frustrating problem. Stupid people crawling all over the fragile tufas (despite signs telling them not to), breaking them and ruining views. Fortunately, as you suggest, most of them are too lazy to get up early, but some other photographers can get seriously obnoxious and obtrusive as well. Last fall, I set up a pre-dawn photo point just east of the south tufas to capture the tufas in first light. Unfortunately, a fat woman (or was it Santa Claus?) arrived in a red and white outfit and parked herself with tripod in full view on the tufa formation for the entire time. And a guy was there panning back and forth with a camcorder with a red pilot light. So all my long exposures had this fat broad in the middle and were streaked by the red light. Wished my Canon had been a Howitzer! Got some nice shots of the Sierras though. Fortunately, there's much more to Mono than just tufas.

Happy shooting,
Craig
