No on really predicted for Georgia Tech to get into the ACC championship game, with other teams in the ACC with a higher seed. But this young and talented team decided to step it up when it mattered the most, with the NCAA tournament on the line. With the season already at 1-1 against Duke, Georgia Tech had a chance in their minds to finally overcome their underdog status. But unfortunately the game ended up going the other way, with Duke yet another championship with a final score of 61-65. I decided to take a few pictures of the cheerleaders before the game, since I think I should be documenting everything.

And Dick Vitale was here, from ESPN, as well as Erin Andrews. And they were making jokes for Dancing with the Stars.

I’ve been trying to get a cool way to show the team entering the court, but never got a good one. I think this one is pretty typical but still good.

Georgia Tech was matched up with NC State for the semifinals game of the ACC tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina. I really didn’t know what to expect today, since Georgia Tech had already beaten NC State at home. I knew there was going to be a lot of action, since the last match up ended up very close. Now with more on the line, each team would be giving their all to get to the finals game against Duke. First picture is the tip off, a little wide angle action.

A close win yesterday brought Georgia Tech to the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament against Maryland. I have just been going day to day with my travel and hotel arrangements so we’ll see what comes out of it. Well it was another exciting game today, with Georgia Tech upsetting Maryland. The final score of 69-64. What a crazy comeback by the Terps, when the Yellow Jackets were up by 16 going into the second half. Well we should start from the beginning, when I saw this cool puppet that this one guy was holding in the stands.

Georgia Tech was facing University of North Carolina for the third time this season due to their low seed in the ACC standings. I didn’t really know if I could afford driving so far and missing class, but I guess it is my last semester as an undergrad, so I might as well make the most of it. Well it was a 5 hour drive till we arrived in Greensboro, welcomed by the Greensboro Coliseum. I was pretty excited to be able to shoot such a highly publicized event, and was ready to get on the court. Since I wasn’t back at home, there were tons of new things, such as all these remotes put on the goal post.

I was able to shoot one tennis match this weekend, which was a battle between Georgia Tech and University of North Carolina Wilmington. This allowed me to shoot the doubles match between Georgia Tech’s Kevin King and Juan Spir and UNC Wilmington’s Kinshuk Sharma and Max Ando Hirsh. This doubles match ended with Georgia Tech defeating UNC Wilmington 8-6. First picture shows the setup for doubles, with Juan Spir in front and Kevin King in the back.

Georgia Tech hosted a USFA event called the Yellow Jacket Open to attract participants to compete against each other. It is actually pretty addicting to watch, and looks like a lot of fun to fence also. I watched an event called foil, which involves only a no sleeve vest and a button sword for points. Here are some photos I came up with. First one was just to stop motion, but the background was a little too busy so I though I should add some blur to single out the subject.

Georgia Tech had a must win to boost their moral before the ACC tournament, and possibly the NCAA tournament if they are lucky. This was despite the 18 point effort by both Georgia Tech forward Gani Lawal and Georgia Tech center Derrick Favors. Georgia Tech lost with a final score of 88-82. The beginning of the game was very intense, with both teams playing a physical game. Virginia Tech came out of the gates ready for a goal, as you can see with the bench sitting in a similar fashion.

Alice in Chains was performing at the Tabernacle on Thursday, February 25, 2010 with a second show the following day. I was excited because a pretty big name was coming in town and I frequent the Tabernacle for reviews now. Well first comes to first, the opener Middle Class Rut. This duo was a good start to the concert, showing immense energy for just a guitar and drummer. Zack Lopez performs on his guitar in front of the huge banner they put up.

The Variety Playhouse is a wonderful venue if you love light shows and music. It is one of my favorite places to take pictures since the lighting is one of the best that I have been to. The first band up was Steel Train, who was the first band opening for Tegan and Sara. I was close to not being able to get into the concert due to a mix up with names so I was only able to photograph this band for a song. First up is Jack Antonoff, the vocalist and guitarist of Steel Train.

Next is Daniel Silbert, who plays guitar and is backup vocals for the group.

Next, which was my favorite band of the night, is Holly Miranda. I just like it because it resembles the sound of the Stars, which is very vocally driven. Well, meet Holly. I wish I could find more information about the band but this is all I know so far.
