Another visit around to remember my grandparents brought us around Xin Dian, Taiwan. As my parents were busy, my brother and I went to the rope bridge in Xin Dian. I thought it was pretty cool, which may have been a little busier and prettier at night. But overall I was glad to see that there was so much Taiwan has to offer in such a small area. here is a view of the river, activities, as well as the rope bridge.

We started to walk around the river and map out what there was to do around the area. There was a market out at the street as well as many restaurants. I thought it was interesting to see the contrast between new and old with this old man fishing for something.

A shot of my brother and my cousin on an interesting floating bridge.

Another view of the bridge.

Next, we were off to visit my grandfather’s crematorium. Taiwan tradition, and probably buddist tradition, asks for visitors to thank the gods that help protect this sacred site. With that, we also tell the dead that we are here to visit and other things that I am unclear of.

I just thought these switches were interesting. Very old school.

A view of my father pointing out my grandfathers name plate.

This mosquito that was attacking me. I am always the first victim to these buggers.

Lastly, we visited my mother’s parents because their grave site was moved. It is just interesting how elaborate these “miao’s” are. These photos are mostly for remembrance and a reminder of where I come from.
