Carnival Destiny – Half Moon Cay

Our second DESTINYtion was Half Moon Cay, which is a private island in the Bahamas. We were ready for a beach day. I had already been on a private island on my last cruise, so there were some standards to be kept up with. The same process applied as last time, only small boats were allowed to move people to the island, so we had to wait. Our group waiting to board a tender to make it ashore.

When we made it to the island, a BBQ was awaiting. So this was the first thing we had to visit. The hamburgers were charred, but hot dogs and chicken were delicious. Here is pirate Jim eating his chicken breasts.

On the schedule for events, we knew there was a sand castle building contest. But we decided instead to just make a huge mound of sand; I decided to dig a huge hole. Well that hole and mound turned into a Mayan pyramid. We left after an exhausting session in the sun but found out the next day that we won the contest!

My self portrait.

Hello there Destiny.

I liked how the texture of the sand after it bunched up from my skin.

And hammock time!
