Callaway Gardens

Callaway Gardens is located just 2 hours south of Atlanta and hosts a wonderful exhibit of wildflowers and azaleas. I was excited that Melody was going to visit me during the spring season when all the azaleas would be in bloom so I had to take her to this beautiful location. When we arrived, we decided to make a short circuit from one end to the other so started at Mr Carson’s Vegetable Garden. No real vegetables to see during this time of year, but there were a lot of interesting flowers that were in bloom.

We got so excited when we saw this butterfly in the wild, little did we know we were going to get a little overwhelmed with the Butterfly center a few hours later.

Melody poking at the “droopy droop” plant because it looked a little lame.

Melody got to do a little planting with a Parsley plant that we now call Gnarls Parsely.

I remember visiting in the past when these grape vines were flourishing. Just a nice little reminder of how things can last over several years.

After the vegetable garden, we drove over to the butterfly center to get a view of all the butterflies. We saw this little nursery that was housing the cocoons of the recently developing caterpillars.

Just a random little pineapple plant, which I have never seen before.

A view of the butterfly garden on the outside while we were waiting to take some photos of the next photo.

Tourist spot for the gardens!

A beautiful view of the flowers of a dogwood tree.

We decided to hike around a little around the gardens and look at the old log cabins that were still standing.

Then found a cool little bridge where all these people were standing. But I heard someone say turtle.

and for sure, there were a ton of turtles! this is just a fraction of what we actually saw.

Lastly, we decided to walk around the azalea bowl, because that was the reason why I wanted to visit.
