Today was the start of the Volleyball season for the women, and it started out with a blast. I was kind of nervous and excited since I haven’t both shot volleyball and shot sports in general in a while. The gymnasium was somewhat dark, and I was happy I just got my 85mm 1.4D. Anxiously awaiting, we start off with the common serve. I never knew girls could jump so high.
As everyone knows well, the spike is a signature move used to exhibit power. And these women are powerful indeed; I wouldn’t want to be put in front of that ball.
Freshman, Monique Mead, was a star in the season opener. She was simply dominating the field with her natural ability to force the ball into bare ground.
I thought I could get a cool shot with the reflection of the ground. But it didn’t quite come out the way I envisioned it. I was thinking more of a underexposed piece but this came out decent.
Although Georgia Tech dominated in the first two games, it had come down to the wire with the final game deciding the win. The Jacket’s defense never let up, and ended up victorious in the end.
This was one of my favorite shots, just the emotion and the framing was amazing. I just wish the net wasn’t always in the players faces.
Period 5, with the tug of war getting more strenuous. Georgia Tech reined supreme, and in good fashion. What a great way to start another exciting season for Georgia Tech.
