The Georgia Tech, Florida State game can easily be bolstered up as one of the games of the year. It exhibited offensive dominance over some mediocre defenses. I was truly surprised to see such a slugfest of the one, two punch of Georgia Tech’s rushing game and Florida State’s passing game. If we had these offenses combined, it looks to be unstoppable. With 500 total offense on both sides separately, it was a game to watch this weekend. The stadium added to the appeal of the rivarly for myself, allowing me to see what a real college stadium looks like.
The seminoles comes out like the Ramblin’ Wreck would come out at Bobby Dodd. I expected a little more epic of an entrance and was slightly disappointed. But all in all an impressive showing from the Florida State side.
Florida State came out with everything it had in its arsenal. Starting with a run game to open up their pass.
And next with a nice pass next to the sideline. Georgia Tech has been struggling lately against the pass and Florida State was looking to capitalize.
With Georgia Tech’s running game comes the threat of the Nesbitt, Dwyer, or Allen. This is Anthony Allen breaking a big run, almost heading into the endzone.
Special teams were the make or break formula for success. With both offenses being 100% successful, special teams would need to capitalize each opportunity. Here is DeShone Scott taking down the Florida State kick returner Greg Reid.
Florida State’s quarterback Christian Ponder was the game maker for FSU. Here is his throw to the center of the endzone to wide receiver Richard Goodman. I wish I got the shot, but he was turned away from me, giving me a very bland shot.
Looking into getting more stock photos of each team we play against for future issues of the Technique so I decided to get a standard one of the quarterback Christian Ponder.
Pass was intended for another Receiver but was popped up by Georgia Tech, which should have been swatted down. Wide Receiver Jarmon Fortson jumps above corner Mario Butler for the catch.
Wide Receiver Jarmon Fortson gets a quick screen and tries to rush past Georgia Tech Lineman Brad Jefferson. I just love the expression on his face.
Running back Lonnie Pryor tried to pass Linebacker Sedric Griffin as he gets tripped up due to his shoe getting pulled off.
Standard Redzone shot. I wish I had this angle for Georgia Tech also.
Running Back Jermaine Thomas catches a screen which resulted in a touchdown. He was forced nearly out of bounds by defensive end Derrick Morgan.
Nesbitt is starting to get used to the pocket as he sets up to throw a touchdown pass to Demariyus Thomas.
Marcus Wright, another a-back for the Jackets, runs past the Florida State secondary untouched for a touchdown.
Buzz exhausted from all the scoring. But really Buzz was doing push ups after each Georgia Tech touchdown and is exhausted from all the exercise.
Jonathan Dwyer rushes up the middle, with a slow and steady day. He had one break away run for 70 and ended with 2 touchdowns for the day.
Florida State safety Jamie Robinson nearly intercepts pass intended for wide receiver Stephen Hill.
Nesbitt ended the day with 143 yards rushing with 3 rushing touchdowns. To add to the ground effort, he also had 131 passing yards with 1 pass touchdown. This is Nesbitts last play as an audible for a quarterback scramble which resulting in a touchdown.
