I had a great opportunity to shadow Steven Johnson during one of his cat station runs. He had spotted a cat that was needing some veterinary attention. It was a lucky day because the cat decided to cooperate, which allowed me to document it. These are cats that they plan not to socialize around campus just to avoid potentially dangerous contact. It is a great program that neuters and spays cats to lower the population as well as socialize them correctly toward city cat society. Too bad there was no cloud in the sky so everything was really burned out. Well I hope I can get some better weather next time. Right when we arrived at the station, Steven was getting the trap ready for the cat. He had some wet food because this is what cats love!
Here is a view of the end of the trap, just a delicious dish for the cat to eat.
And the little shelter that the cat we were waiting to trap.
In he goes!
Steven had to put a blanket around the cage to make sure that the cat would stay calm and cooperate.
We were taken on a tour around campus to see the different spots that cats congregate as well as the different feeding stations. These were all strategically placed and I will not disclose any of that information. Another station, randomly placed on campus.
This is one of the cutest cats! His name is Burdell and was socialized to humans, which forced one of the members to adopt him.
Meet Georgia, she has more toes than usual. She was also a little more camera shy.
Giving the cats a proper trim
One of my favorite pictures of the day. I just love the perspective.
Curiosity actually helps the cat, survive!
