Another visit to Kings Canyon, this time a backpacking adventure. I was looking forward to getting into the Dusy Basin since the first time at Kings Canyon. I love how 95% of this national park is pure backcountry, which forces me to go and discover as well as be ridden of large crowds. I arrived at the Inyo National Forest the day before to meet up with my friend Isaac and get a good nights sleep for a long day the next day. We were off and ready in the morning for the Bishop Pass.
No water faucets, so water purification is a must. Bacteria is prevalent in the water even though it looks crystal clear. Here is Isaac and Yvonne getting some water into their Camel Backs.
Yvonne fording a small creek.
A beautiful view of the crystal clear waters of Long Lake and mountain range in the background.
Here is the trail with the same lake on the right.
Attempting to navigate the map, actually trying to figure out how much further to the basin.

Time for a break, and lunch. This is why my shoes are off.

Peanut butter and honey wrap.
Wrap in the making.
We made it to Bishop Pass, after climbing roughly 3000 ft.
Dusy Basin during sunset.
Nice sunset silhouette.
My quarters, yes just a sleeping bag. The bag eventually froze up in the morning, but I was surprised that it was really warm.
Lake reflection with the sunset.
I woke up the next morning around 5 am to get some nice sunrise pictures, but that was a complete fail. But I did get this really sweet photo before the sun rose of the Dusy Basin.
My hike out with a calm Long Lake, which made a great mirror reflection.
I can’t believe that fall is actually here, I just wish most of the trees would be colorful. I hope to see some more fall colors in the upcoming weeks.
