A continuation of my Saturday was to cover the LA Kings game at the Staples Center. Right after I transmitted from Starbucks with my UCLA photos, I was off to downtown to get ready for some hockey. It was a nice change of pace from the Ducks, which is pretty far away. And I was actually covering a winning NHL team. When I first got to the rink, I was deciding on what the photograph. I really wanted to get some stock photos of both teams but ended up only being able to get the Devils. I though Rod Pelley, a New Jersey Devils forward, had interesting bruises and scabs on his face. A true hockey player.
After I transmitted some photos pregame, I went back out to the ice. It was a little tougher to shoot at the Staples center due to smaller photo holes, and having to crouch the whole time! The photo holes were about the height of my lower chest. Well I had to make due with what I had, and here is New Jersey Devils left wing Alexander Vasyunov taking a shot.

The first goal of the game! The Kings were pretty much dominating the ice, their pass precision was pretty amazing.

Second period I remained at the same area. I needed to cover both teams to cover all outcomes of the game. Here is New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur with a near miss.

New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur with another great save.
Eventually the Los Angeles Kings were able to break up the defense, the goal wasn’t too exciting. I wish they had shot with the goalie facing me, instead it was on the opposite side. Also the puck just slid into the goal really slowly, I have a shot of the puck sliding in, but nothing too exciting except for this celebration.

After the second quarter was over I decided to go up to the stands. This insures that I am able to cover both teams on offense and defense. It also provides a different perspective of the game. Los Angeles Kings center Brayden Schenn attempting to handle the puck by the New Jersey Devils goal.

The New Jersey Devils were down, and forced to play more aggressively. Unfortunately for them, the Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick was not going to have any of it. The Los Angeles Kings eventually won 3-1.
