Join me on my odyssey across the west coast, first stop is a one way flight to Seattle, Washington. This would mark my second time in a few months visiting Washington as well as a trip down the coast, but we were going to mix it up a bit.
Melody, getting excited for the flight up to Seattle.
My medium format camera that I am starting to use for travel in the Seattle airport.
Getting ready to shuttle our way over to Enterprise, for our landlocked journey down south.
After we got our hands on our new car, literally it only had a few hundred miles on it, we were off to see Will Jang and grab some lunch. It was more of a cajun style restaurant, but the ambiance was nice and people were rolling in for their post marathon/run meal.
Later that day, we had to begin our sight seeing at Pike Place Market.
I took a few photos of Will and Melody but I also got some more of this bench on the edge of the Market.
We walked around seeing a lot of interesting, mostly non corporate shops. Here is the inside of an Indian shop with their spices and curry.
A little bit down we had to visit the first Starbucks since Melody is a huge coffee drinker.
I waited outside when Melody was stuck in the crowd and found this lady in front, just trying to make a few extra bucks.
Next door was a bakery that Will said was delicious, Piroshky, Piroshky..
As I was waiting in line, I just got a quick shot of some of the pastries and breads.
After we ate our apple cinnamon bread, we saw a very RARE event with Rachel the pig being towed away from Pike Place Market.
A general view of the main entrance of Pike Place Market, where all the fish throwing takes place.
I got a candid photo of one of the workers at the fish market, which I thought was pretty genuine.
A view of the vegetables that were there, not as vibrant and full as this past summer but still a good sight to see.
So a common theme while in Seattle were all the RARE events such as this drained lock at Hiram M. Chittenden Locks.
Electricity generation at the dam next to the locks as well.
We tried to go inside to see if there were any fish migrating, and of course there wasn’t. So I just got a photo of the embryonic stages of salmon development.
The next day, Will took us to another neighborhood, Fremont. This is where we visit an organic chocolatier, Theo’s.
They had a lot of interesting flavors so I had to try them all, which gave me a slight stomach ache.
Cool paper art with Theo’s wrappers.
More of the Theo’s packaging.
Next stop in Fremont, Desmond’s Seattle tee shirts.
I really like the setup, looks clean and appealing, which showcases a lot of the different sight seeing sites of Seattle.
Fremont city art around Fremont.
Will had to leave us to go to work but he told us of some places to visit, especially the Fremont Troll. On the way there I saw this cool street art under the bridge.
And the actual Fremont Troll
Melody posing with her “Holga,” after finding some cool flowers around the area.
A view across the lake from Gas Works park of the colorful buildings.
City view from Gas Works park.
There were also a lot of people flying kites at Kite Hill!
This guy was especially intense.
Our last stop in Seattle would be for dinner at Ray’s Boathouse.
We were deciding if we wanted to drive all the way to Olympic National park or just ferry over. Well we aren’t in Seattle that long so why not just take advantage of this commuter ferry. Here is a view of all the cars, even though it wasn’t packed going to Brementon.
Another view of the ferry.
I decided to go to the back of the boat to get another view of the city. Seattle is so scenic that every angle of the city seems visually appealing.
This is a map of the ferry route that we took, which took nearly 1 hour.
