Our last few days of the trip, weren’t as picture friendly due to long drives to our destinations. We decided to make a detour through Crater Lake National Park, with our main destination being Toketee Falls in Oregon. Well we made it to the falls, and they were just beautiful, with a small section of the falls leading up to the larger section.

So my decision was to drive through Crater Lake National Park, thinking this would be a great scenic route as we headed to the Redwoods National and State Parks. Well, it decided to snow really hard during the drive, which forced me to turn around and double back, so that just wasted two hours of our trip and limited our time at the Redwoods National Park. I thought I was home free as I started driving back towards the coast, but the mountainous terrain gave way to more snow, which scared me a bit since I was driving with no snow chains or tires, and on top of that a rental car. We finally made it with the grueling weather, and Melody falling asleep but it was worth it. We decided to take the old horse carriage road through the forrest just to get some perspective.

And this is a shot of our car on the six mile road through the Redwoods.

We drove half way to our mini hike at Stout Grove so we could walk among these living giants. Melody was just amazed by the size and age of all the trees around.

As we headed out to our campsite for the night, I saw that the light was fading fast and had to grab a quick picture of the Redwoods Coast. Bad weather prevented any interesting colors to burst through, but it was a lovely sight. It’s inspiring to see that nature is ever changing, the landscape is never the same.

A shot a little closer to the beach.

And just to document, our car as the last rays faded away.

I decided not to camp that night though due to a change of plans. Melody wanted to get into San Francisco early to visit her friend Sammy. So I was off an hour and a half south to Eureka for the night to cut down the duration of driving on the following day. So another day to wake up extremely early, this time a 4:30 am wake up call, but it was worth it in the end. I was able to see the Golden Gate Bridge again, but at a different vantage point. I am hoping to explore San Francisco some weekend to get some more interesting shots.

Sammy was able to take us around, again hiking in the rain. Melody was talking up a very cool vantage point of the city, but it was located on a “muddy” hill. This didn’t stop me, despite the blisters and scandals.

And next are a few photos of the matching twins, Melody and Sammy. I will get a few other photos up I took with Blad in a later post, I just have to take a few more shots and develop, which hopefully will be this weekend.
