Melody bought me tickets to the LA beerfest, which sounded awesome until we actually got to the line for the event. An email notified us to arrive early, as early as an hour early to ensure we get in on time, but little did we know that everyone would be there at that time as well. I really thought we weren’t going to make it in since we were a block and a half or more from the entrance to the LA beerfest; I thought it was going to be a repeat of the LA foodfest we went to earlier this year. The foodfest was held at the Rosebowl, but it was poorly run and setup and we weren’t even able to get enough food due to all the lines. Well I was bored, so I took a few photos of Melody with Blad.
The LA Beerfest was held at the Sony Pictures Studios, which was pretty cool to see.
We were able to make it in with only 30 minutes wasted which gave us a few hours of beer tasting. I was a little skeptical due to the foodfest, so I had to get as many samples at the front gate, of Hoegarden and Shocktop.
Melody with our complementary beer mugs! These were our only cups we could use, so we had to protect them.
I was really surprised to see that the grounds were fairly large and nicely scattered. This prevented the long lines for beer tasting! It was great to be able to just wait one minute max to get our taste of beer, and the vendors were generous!
Drink, Eat, Play. I think by this point, Melody was already feeling the effects of the alcohol. I don’t think I’ve seen her drink as much as she did this day.
Korean beer fusion, I think it was a mix of Soju and beer.
Most of the vendors had kegs, but there were a few with bottles like the example above.
More bottles here as well. It was a great selection of beer, and something I would recommend to anyone that is interested. You will drink your moneys worth, thats if you can handle the alcohol in that short period of time (I think approximately 3 hours.)
Last but not least, Melody was surprised to find some of her friends from USC also at the beerfest. I will definitely keep this event on my list of things to do next year.
