My first assignment shooting the Los Angeles Dodgers was a two day stint at Dodger Stadium with the San Diego Padres visiting. I started to get a feel for baseball more after the first night covering, there were just a lot of plays that I was able to catch. Baseball is tough though, you really want to catch the action but you never know when it will come. You are left anticipating events and its more of a guessing game. There are a lot of games that become long, repetitive, and boring but thats baseball for ya. Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Aaron Miles tags out San Diego Padres center fielder Cameron Maybin.
Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Andre Ethier was on a hitting streak, so I had to get a photo of him hitting each day of course.
And another shot, instead with Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp.
Los Angeles Dodgers short stop Jamey Carroll makes a double play with San Diego Padres first baseman Jorge Cantu attempting to get in the way.
Diving catches are a lot of luck, since the timing of the baseball is a lot harder than a lot of sports. It is kind of like how you would shoot hockey, but you always get lucky if you are able to nail the shot with the baseball right outside of the glove. Here is Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Andre Ethier making a diving catch for a fly ball.
And the celebration after the game, which they won during the first night.
Los Angeles first baseman James Loney with a great celebratory shot.
The next day, the first pitch was thrown from the feet of a man born with no arms, Tom Willis. He was throwing to promote pitch for awareness.
I wanted to try to get some other angle shots, which are different but I don’t really know if I would camp here. I like the cleaner backgrounds but its an angle that people see all the time. Here is Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hiroki Kuroda on the mound.
And a shot of Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp hitting again. This would be a great spot for some home plate action though.
San Diego Padres pitcher Tim Stauffer with an attempted bunt.
San Diego Padres center fielder Cameron Maybin reacting after striking out.
Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Andre Ethier spitting after his hitting streak was extended. I really hate the background on this one, wishing I could get rid of the blown out banner but thats a thought for next time.
Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp reacts after being called out at first.
Los Angeles Dodgers short stop Jamey Carroll is hit by a pitch.
San Diego Padres third baseman Chase Headley forces Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Rod Barajas to lose the ball for a score.
