I have been looking for a lot of local places to photograph some landscapes around the Southern California area.  I used to seek out places that were further away, but I noticed there is plenty of diversity in our area.  My favorites so far have been out by Belmont Shore Pier, which I will focus on in my next post, San Pedro, and here at Little Corona.  The tide pools at Little Corona are amazing, with some jagged rocks that are equally as beautiful as they are intimidating.  There is just so much going on here, and it’s hard to actually get compositions that I really like.  I was fortunate enough to go out during one of the rare colorful sunsets in SoCal and grab a few of these photos.  I’m not in love with these, but they are a reminder to go back and search for something different.

As the sunset peaked, I decided to get a horizontal shot instead.  I definitely like the composition of the vertical shot better, with the lines and clouds being a little more complementary, but the colors really bursted during this time.

I headed away, as the colors began to dwindle and look for other compositions.  It’s good to get one shot, but always look for a little more while I head out.

And finally, this last one for the night.  I do like this composition the best, and probably will have to head back to this shelf when the tide is the same with another colorful sunset.
